Hot on the heels of recently announced Silverlight 4 beta, Novell released Moonlight 2, the latest version of its open-source implementation of Silverlight for Linux. It also announced broader licensing terms for Moonlight, allowing users to run Moonlight on non-Novell Linux distributions.
Despite the name, Moonlight 2 actually includes support for Silverlight 2 and some Silverlight 3 features. The Moonlight team is working on delivering support for the full Silverlight 3 feature set and is targeting to get those out prior to the official release of Silverlight 4.
A preview release of Moonlight 3 will be available in the first quarter of 2010 with a final release slated for the third quarter of 2010.
Developers can download and get started using Moonlight 2 now at http://go-mono.com/moonlight/
